Programming

Each student is paid a stipend to complete the 10-week training cohort. The cohort follows curriculum based on job skill and life skill standards. Our programming is progression-based, meaning students advance or progress through more difficult and complex skills through the cohort.

Learn & Earn: Orientation

Students complete safety and tool orientation

Blueprint Reading

Students go through Blueprint Basics 101

Community Projects

Community project(s)—Little Free Libraries, playgrounds, gazebos, greenhouses

Career Certifications

Career certifications—when students have basic construction vocabulary and tool training from the community project, they go through a career certification class based on their cohorts’ interest or specificity. The Kids of 216 provides the following certification options to students: First Aid/AED/CPR (all students) Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 (construction focus) Residential, Repair, & Painting (RRP) (painting focus- lead abatement) Forklift operation training (all students)

Residential Renovations

Residential renovation project(s)—when students have successfully passed their career certifications, residential renovations begin! Students complete projects for elderly and disabled residents in Cuyahoga County.

Jumpstart to Jobs: Life Skills Classes

Students complete life skills classes, seminars, and homework through the duration of the entire cohort.
